It’s the biggest fashion show in the US, where over 60 fashion designers were beamed globally on the Red Carpet of the 76th Golden Globe Awards. These designers, along with fashion stylists spent months seducing Hollywood’s top actresses (and actors) to wear their most fabulous creations. What better way to promote a designer house. The Red Carpet for these big award shows is the only platform that the world gets to see top designers creations, all together, being worn by the world’s most talented and beautiful Hollywood celebrities.
QUICK CHANGES
Of course, there were several hits and definitely misses on the red carpet. In a season where designer brands are experiencing several `change-overs’ and `shake-ups’. Designers are leading brands at an unusual rate, there are constant take-overs and mergers. The fashion industry is in a state of constant change. So, a platform such as the Golden Globes is of extreme importance on several levels. Consumers are keeping a keen eye on the rotating state of designer fashion houses, and are more careful of how they spend their hard earned money.
Color, shine, and elegance spiced with a big dose of bows, plus, a series of Black and White combinations, were key elements that resonated from this year’s Red Carpet. Most of the top designers went all out with exquisite ballgowns, some of the lesser known designers also came with their A-game and showcased lots of drama with verve and aplomb.

BEST DRESSED
Ruling the fashion roost from my vantage point were the clear winners, not necessarily of Golden Globe Awards, but the best-dressed actors of the evening. Taraji P. Henson graced the awards show, wearing a body-hugging VERA WANG bottle green gown with a plunging decolette. Lady GaGa brought the drama in a voluminous, powder blue VALENTINO COUTURE gown. Nicole Kidman was stunning in a burgundy, liquid sequined MICHAEL KORS column. Regina King who won the `Best Supporting Actress Globe’ for her performance in `If Beale Street Could Talk’ wearing a rose-colored sequined column by ALBERTA FERRETTI. Emily Blunt wore a steel colored, macrame’ cocktail dress with a jagged hemline by ALEXANDER McQUEEN. Julia Roberts was unforgettable in a STELLA McCartney pant ensemble. Kaley Coaco wore an unusual MONIQUE LHUILLIER black and white gown. Charlize Theron also selected a stately black and white gown, from DIOR HAUTE COUTURE COLLECTION. Emma Stone thrilled on-lookers wearing a blush-colored LOUIS VUITTON gown. Amy Adams was a picture of elegance wearing a teal blue CALVIN KLEIN BY APPOINTMENT and Rosamond Pike dazzled in a black gown with a silver jeweled caplet by GIVENCHY.

HONORABLE MENTIONED
On the second tier of ladies who were worthy of note were: Lucy Liu, wearing a sheer pink cape over a haze of jeweled florals by new designer GALIA LAHAV. Chrissy Metz wore a red TANYA TAYLOR gown. Allison Brie looked demure in a flowing, pale blue VERY WANG gown. Claire Foy was sweet wearing a Marigold yellow MUI MUI gown. Kerry Russell glowed in a silver MONIQUE LHUILLIER gown, Halle Berry looked every inch a Hollywood star wearing a Burgundy ZUHAIR MURAD wrapped gown. Allison Janney looked picture perfect wearing CHRISTIAN SIRIANO. Melissa McCarthy wore a purple REEM ACRA gown featuring silver stars on the bodice. Debra Messing slayed wearing a custom made silver and black jeweled PAMELA ROWLAND gown. Danai Gurira was bold and sparkling in a red one-shoulder RODARTE’ evening gown.
OUTSTANDING MEN
We cannot go on without mention of the men who stole the show on the Red Carpet of the Golden Globes. The Peacock Gender came in full plumage and several standouts were well noted. Edris Elba was totally together in British designer, OZWALD BOATENG’S moss green tuxedo. Billy Porter of FXs “Pose” TV series, turned heads rocking a flowing grey cape embellished with jeweled florals and lined in hot pink satin, revealed a contrasting grey embellished suit underneath. Rami Malek won his Golden Globe for the role of Freddy Mercury in “Bohemian Rapsody” wearing GIVENCHY. Timothee Chalamet was quite unique wearing a black jeweled harness from LOUIS VUITTON by VIRGIL ABLOH. “Black Panther’s” Michael B.Jordan wore RICCARDO TISCI for Burberry. Mahershala Ali looked debonaire wearing an ETRO custom made tuxedo when winning his Golden Globe for his performance in “Green Book.” Darren Criss won his Golden Globe wearing DIOR MEN and director Spike Lee wore GUCCI.

FASHION DONT’S
Now, for those that missed the mark. Catherine Zeta-Jones’ emerald green one-shoulder gown by ELIE SAAB just didn’t work for the occasion. Thandie Newton’s silver sequin, cut-out MICHAEL KORS gown looked cheap. Lupita Nyoung’o, usually a fashion star on the Red Carpet choose the wrong color in her blue jeweled CALVIN KLEIN BY APPOINTMENT gown. Janelle Monae’ looked like she was dressed for a costume party wearing black and white CHANEL. Anne Hathaway also missed the mark wearing an ill-fitting, leopard print infused, ELIE SAAB gown.
