UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH AARON PAULIn the midst of a hectic summer tour Aaron was kind enough to give us at fashionedits.com an exclusive. Here, we get an inside look at this incredible performer. Listen in:
WALTER GREENE: How would you describe your music?AARON PAUL: “I’m gonna answer your question arrogantly…And I mean that, with the utmost respect to you and anyone who may ask it, and who reads this interview. I have no boundaries, no restrictions, and no limitations. I am free creativity with my music as I am with my image and outlook on life. I am an artist and entertainer and I will create, challenge, explore, grow and fail. That’s how my brain is wired. I hope that I leave no stone unturned. I grew up listening to a bunch of genres. And that’s what’s in my blood. I refuse to be limited and totally refuse to have this business put me in a box. That I found suffocating. I tell people and fans of my work…I will flip it on you in a heartbeat…LOL. I enjoy and perform all different genres. I will attempt the whole spectrum of sounds, styles and cultural elements in my work. And I’m only just scratching the surface!”
W.G. What’s in the future for Aaron Paul? A.P. “To keep creating, and keep growing and learning. A lot of new opportunities are coming in daily. A whole new audience, especially here in the US are looking at me now. This is what I’ve always wanted! It’s new ground! Don’t get me wrong. I love my past and my European roots and background and I truly adore my fan base – and they know that! I carry them all forward with me and experience the journey with me as I develop and experience this new ground I’m performing in. I will like to dip my hand into the film. I’ve never done that and would like to see if I could translate into a big screen and become a believable character and step out of my own shoes on a project. It’s a very exciting time for me and I am very grateful for all the things I have going on right now. I’m meeting some great people. I’m being recognized and acknowledged for who I am as an artist and amongst my peers and new audiences.”
W.G. Tell us more about some of this future newness?A.P. “The new album `Dance’ is about to be released. With that, I have other singles including my duets with Dr. Dre (Yo MTV Raps) I see myself working with `TheImageGuru’ Montgomery Frazier for many more projects to come. I would love to do a project with George Wayne of Vanity Fair if he’d let me. He’s another legend in this industry as an NYC Celebrity writer. He just included me in his infamous #Downtown 100 List for 2019. Maybe he’d perform a Grace Jones remake with me. We are both huge fans of her. We’ll see the 😉 wink. I love doing what I do and to keep doing it as long as my passion for it allows me.
W.G. Which artists inspire you? A.P. “I’m inspired by a ton of artists, mainly from the past. To me, they have been the fabric and template for what I want to be as an artist. Grace Jones, Prince, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, and Madonna. I like larger than life artists. Artists that give you artistry and style on and off the stage and camera. That’s what made the names I mentioned so exciting and revolutionary and whose bodies of work has longevity and will hold up forever.”
