New York Fashion Week - Spring/Summer 2020 INTO THE SPLENDOR OF SON JUNG WAN

SON JUNG WAN has been a staple at New York Fashion Week, known for turning out bold, over-the-top creations. For Spring/Summer 2020, Son Jung Wan showed her best collection to date. Revving up her engine, she set the catwalk ablaze with a cohesive collection of clothes that were laced with modernity. In bold Neon Mint and Opaline Green, Cyber Yellow, Gold and Ivory, she impressed the audience as a designer who has found her footing and is now ready to share her fresh, new vision in a big way.

LUXURIOUS & ROMANTIC”Into the Splendor” was the theme of her collection. In 42 well-tailored passages, Son Jung Wan unveiled what can be labeled as a showcase of ease and comfort, peppered by a big dose of glamor – Dazzling and Intense with twinkles and sequins, very luxurious…yet romantic. As explained in her program notes, her inspiration began from all things that compose splendor. “Various types of fabrics of a diverse spectrum of colors are combined to maximize the glamor of vintage looks to be reinterpreted in a modern light. This season’s new retro dramatic collection has been created through the recreation of splendor, uniqueness and pops retro in a modern light to perfectly depict a vintage look, and the reinterpretation of modern diversity in a trendy light.” noted the designer.

EMBROIDERY & RUFFLESThe show opened with a series of cyber yellow and white prints that came in dresses with petal sleeves, rompers, jackets, and gowns. The petal sleeves were repeated on a neon mint green and pink embroidered dress, A blush pink jumpsuit was highlighted by multicolored bead embroidered stripes and ruffle details. Dusty pink florals, metallic draped and ruffled gowns spiced with asymmetrical details dazzled on the catwalk. For men, Son Jung Wan showed four toned down looks including an electric blue shirt with beaded embroidery over matching shorts. A cream textured suit with a crisp white shirt was also a standout men’s look.

GRAND FINALE’The final section of “Into the Splendor” comprised of several silver, white and blue sequined numbers, like the white iridescent sequin and beaded top with pleated detail over a ruffled skirt. Also worthy of note was her white iridescent sequin cold shoulder detailing and her splendid mermaid gown featuring arctic blue jeweled highlights.
