Battle Breast Cancer with Confidence:
A Personal Wig Makeover for Women Fighting the Disease
With Breast Cancer Awareness Month here, Couture Hair Specialist Angelo David Pisacreta, Owner and Creative Director of the Angelo David Salon on Madison Avenue, would like to donate a couture wig ($4k-$7k value) and create a head-to-toe makeover for a woman undergoing chemotherapy on television, with the goal of raising awareness and donations for The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.
As a salon that specializes in personalized wigs and hairpieces, Angelo and his team routinely work on women from all walks of life who are fighting cancer and have lost their hair from chemotherapy treatment. The trauma of losing hair is a significant one for women, and when telling me their story, they share how deeply it impacts them. I’ve heard:
“Getting cancer is probably the worst thing that has ever happened to me. But I have great support, great doctors, great family. I know I’m going to be OK. But knowing I am going to lose my hair—that’s what makes it all real. Once I see that it really tells me that I’m sick.“
It is not uncommon for his clients to cry tears of joy once they see themselves after I create their wig and show them the final result. It is the main reason why I do what I do.
Through lab testing and the latest technology in the industry, we create human hair wigs that look, feel and respond just like our client’s natural hair would. My clients include all types of women – and men – and I also create wigs for African American clients, who have the highest incidence rate of new breast cancer cases, along with white women. Whether they had long curly black hair or short grey hair, we recreate the exact hair they once had. They leave my salon feeling like their confident, beautiful selves again, empowered to go out into the world and continue living their lives as they did before cancer.
Located on Madison Avenue, the salon boasts a team of highly trained staff members, who are dedicated to making each client feel welcome and appreciated. Renowned for Couture Hair Extensions, thinning hair solutions, and Couture Wigs, Angelo David Salon also offers a full range of services and includes seven private VIP Hair Suites. The full-service salon offers—in addition to thinning hair solutions—the best in cut, color, color correction and styling. Angelo’s vast experience with hair, hair health and hair growth led him to realize that hair health issues often begin inside the body, not on the surface. Angelo David Hair Care products, the Hair Detox® hair revival supplement, and the Angelo David Couture Brush Collection are all available online at angelodavid.com.
For more than a decade, Angelo has been a media fixture. In creating his signature looks, Angelo has worked with many celebrities, including Christie Brinkley, Luann De Lesseps, Aviva Drescher, Sonja Morgan, Carrie Preston, Tamara Tunie, Alexa Ray Joel, Coco Rocha, Shoshanna Lonstein, Danielle Savre, and Kelly Rutherford. Angelo’s passions include his clients, his talented team and his family, who continually inspire him to create new hair care products and hairpieces that help men and women look and feel they are very best.
The Angelo David Salon is a modern, meticulously designed facility that offers a spa-like experience, where guests can receive cuts, color, and styling from master stylists with over 25 years of experience. Conveniently located on Madison Avenue, the salon boasts 2,500 square feet with seven private VIP hair suites, as well as a hair extension styling bar, a beauty concierge department, a beauty lounge, and a couture hair boutique, where clients can shop the full range of Angelo David Hair Care products, from shampoos to conditioners, supplements, and brushes.
