FREDERICK ANDERSON
The pouring rain and cold temperatures did not damper the warm spirit inside Stride Arts Gallery on Manhattan’s east side for designer FREDERICK ANDERSON Fall 2020 collection. The “Roses are Edgy” theme was embraced fully as Frederick flooded the catwalk with lush lace, sequins, tweeds, faux-fur and satin numbers that were fit for a divas wardrobe. The program notes touted Frederick’s collection inspiration: “When we see a rose in a garden we only see it’s a beauty…it’s only when we tattoo it onto our skin that we recognize it has thorns.”
ROSE AND LACE
The 30 piece collection featured several show stoppers, including a beige satin and black lace camisole with wide trousers under an open tweed robe, on model Delesa. Model Liu dazzled in Frederick’s teal satin long dress with lace inset, she was followed by model Yamiko wearing a Burgundy and teal jacquard tunic with wide flaring pants. There was a Mylar tweed suit with tulle over sequin camisole. A Rose jacquard suit with a lace shirt and a Rose jacquard trench over a silver grey lace shirt and jacquard/lace skirt were among my favorites.
