“I always loved to create things. Since a kid, I have loved to draw, I loved to write, and I loved to invent comic book characters… because of their costumes! My first experience designing was in 6th grade. I had outgrown some Paco jeans that I loved, so I cut the logos out and tried to glue them on another pair of pants that fit.”
NaturalBorn began as a concept in 2014 and came to fruition in 2020. If you ask designer David Simon, growing up in the nineties gave him a unique sense of style because labels like Iceberg were just as influential as Moschino.
…and you can see those influences on the NaturalBorn brand. When you try on a pair of NaturalBorn track pants or a hoodie, you not only feel great quality and stand out in the vibrant colors, but you become a representative of the brand because of the incredible logo and its placements. It seems those Paco jeans had a lasting impact.

When it comes to the brand name, you might assume it’s because of David’s Trinidadian roots—an ode to his “naturalized” immigrant family if you will. According to David, it’s more about the individual:
“There are certain traits or characteristics that every individual is born with that give them the potential to be great… some people are NATURALBORN leaders, teachers, athletes, etc.… NATURALBORN brand is a fashionable representation of your naturalborn greatness.”
Every aspect of David’s designs is meticulously considered. We may not all be able to wear comic book character costumes, but we can represent our NaturalBorn selves in a badass sweatsuit.
