Eco-friendly New Year’s resolution
It is hard to believe that another year has passed, and we are just a few days away from 2024. As per tradition, it’s time to make a New Year’s resolution. These are usually wishes and aspirations that we strive to achieve. They often include goals such as weight loss, better health, pursuing higher education, etc. How about choosing a
Sustainable New Year’s Resolution this year? It could be something like reducing the usage of single-use plastic, supporting local businesses, or reducing food waste. These small changes can significantly impact our planet and improve our future.
I’ve never been one to make resolutions. However, this year, I’m making a sustainable resolution. It is essential to me that my resolution includes incorporating more sustainability practices in my business. And spreading awareness about sustainability, particularly in the fashion industry.

The fashion industry is responsible for significant waste, producing up to 100 billion garments annually. As a result, approximately 92 million tons of clothing end up in landfills yearly, with only 20% of textiles being collected for reuse or recycling globally. It’s important to note that nearly 60% of all clothing material is plastic. Fast fashion is primarily responsible for the waste generated by the fashion industry. Fast fashion retailers often produce low-quality clothing rapidly to keep up with the latest trends, leading to overconsumption, where people buy more clothes than they need and discard them quickly. This contributes to the growing problem of textile waste.
“Joining the Fight Against Textile Waste and Plastic Pollution in Fashion”
In recent years, the fashion industry has become one of the significant contributors to environmental pollution. The fashion industry has a significant negative impact on the environment, from consuming large amounts of water to emitting greenhouse gases and using toxic chemicals. As consumers, we can make a difference by making conscious choices and supporting sustainable fashion brands.
Consider adding sustainability to your New Year’s resolution. You don’t have to make a significant change; take small steps towards it. Setting realistic goals and working towards them is essential. You can reduce water consumption, choose eco-friendly fabrics, support second-hand and ethical fashion brands, or take any other action that counts. Remember, we all have a role in creating a sustainable future for our planet.
So, to sum up, let’s spread awareness about the impact of fashion on the environment and take responsibility for our actions. By making conscious choices, we can positively impact the planet and ensure a better future for future generations. Good luck with your sustainability goals!
