Lilac pastels, disco dresses, and fun florals significantly departed from Versace’s typical sexy ensembles.
Versace’s latest collection took a youthful and fresh-faced approach, retreating from the strikingly sexy aesthetic we’re used to. The Versace Y2K collection highlights this shift.
Remember the text below: The Italian label is known for its glamour and decadence, but its spring/summer 2025 show at Milan Fashion Week couldn’t have been further from this. It featured unique additions from the Versace Y2K collection.
Since founder Gianni Versace died in 1997, Donatella Versace, his sister, has led the brand. The collection was a nostalgic nod to the brand’s past while pushing it into a modern direction, prominently featured in the Versace Y2K collection.

The show struck a delicate balance between the iconic opulence we associate with the house and a breezier, more lighthearted aesthetic.
The collection paired signature styles like baroque print patterns, caramel-colored suede, and disco bodycon dresses with whimsical embellishments like perfume bottles and champagne stem heels, giving it a fresh feel—more sweet than sexy.

The runway included the ‘it’ girls of today and the future, such as Gigi Hadid, a close friend of the label, who wore a floral midi dress paired with playful rust tights, and Gen Z phenomenon Iris Law.

Tailoring was a key focus, including structured blazers and sharp midi-skirts – playful lace-trimmed edges and sheer layering softened these pieces.
Versace tapped into the Y2K obsession with slinky slip dresses, low-rise trousers, and diamante detailing. This was a key aspect of the Versace Y2K collection.
The collection also evoked the Seventies, with Missoni-inspired chevron patterns (an Italian fashion house that had its heyday in the 1970s), boho bags, and disco detailing reminiscent of maximalist Studio 54 glamour.

Despite the nostalgia nod, this collection wasn’t just about looking back.
Model Anok Yai wore a gold sequinned strapless dress that was 3D-printed. The dress was built without seams and had a famous Versace hourglass shape programmed by a machine.

Versace’s legacy is glamour and sex appeal, but the brand also shows growth and evolution.
With its gestures to both past and present, it’s clear the Versace woman remains timeless.
