The fabulous George Wayne, Contributing Editor at Vanity Fair Magazine hosted New York Fashion Week’s most talked about the launch event for the German fashion line JUVIA. Held at the magnificent downtown Manhattan, five-floor townhouse, known as `The McIntosh House – It’s the former New York City home of model/businesswoman Heidi Klum.
The designer of the JUVIA line is former model JUDITH DOMMERMUTH. So, instead of a formal presentation or a runway show, she opted for a casual approach to showing her line of luxurious, lounging attire. Apart from two mannequins and a few life-sized “poster graphs” of the clothing, models casually mingled with the guests, moving around the floors of this glorious house, enjoying the superb cuisine and cocktails, wearing the Juvia collection. This was actually a genius idea because it showcased the collection in a totally real setting – models were featured as regular party guests, this is how the clothing really works.
Juvia is known for its luxurious loungewear made from the softest, high-quality fabrics. Launched in 2013, Juvia is now in over 500 stores and sold in 10 countries including the USA, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Russia. The new collection for Spring/Summer 2020 is a study in simple elegance. Fashioned from delicate colors like ecru, apricot, sand and the signature black and white, this color palette set the tone and was balanced by subtle prints, soft florals, and bold stripes.
The bulk of the collection was comprised of relaxed sweatshirts, boyfriend sweaters, chord waisted sweatpants, and easy pants and top combinations. The designer noted that her love and inspiration for easy, casual, luxury clothing came from her years of traveling all over the world as a fashion model, and understanding the need for cool clothes that are comfortable and easy to pack without wrinkling.
