New York Fashion Week: The Shows at Gallery at Spring Studios

Designer Younhee Park of GREEDILOUS

It was all right there in black and white,  Not black and white prints per say. The line, inspired by Marie Antoinette, featured delightful ruffles and Simple black and white separates with fur, lace and a ruffle or two. The looks were cool and modern. The splash of chartreuse, red and shamrock plaid adding levity to the collection along with mystical and ornate patterns for both men and women.

Keep an eye out for the dramatic trend running throughout this year’s Concept Korea in both the men’s and women’s collections: the exotic patterns as seen from the rear view.

Designer Chung Chung Lee of LIE

Chung Chung Lee’s LIE collection is all about layering. Lee took his inspiration from the Arctic. Every model wore the same frozen white eyeshadow and mascara. LIE explores a variety of patterns and textures with plaid prints highlighted throughout. The resurgence of plaid in the fashion industry is a welcome change from the oversized hip-hop and grunge trends we have seen in recent years. Lee’s patterns offer the old school femininity with icy blues and greys. The lined morphed into warmer earth tones, rich reds, and black. The LIE collection is a throwback incorporating plaids and pinstripes, tweeds and vibrant stripes. Patterns galore layered over and under long skirts with high slits. Could the florals in Lee’s collection “stem” from his inspiration, the growth process of the flower, the delicacy of it’s blooming petals? Classic petal layering, effortless shapes and an assorted array of colors flowing down the runway.
