GRAMMY FASHION “WHO YOU WEARING?”
Grammy Fashion hits and misses were in full effect during the Grammy Week of activities in New York City. The phrase “Who You Wearing?” coined by the late comedian Joan Rivers seems to have taken a back seat during the red carpet pre-awards shows. E! Entertainment and CBS-TV red carpet hosts did nor ask the celebrities that famous question. I actually only heard it asked twice among the hundreds of celeb arrivals on the red carpet. Well, I did some research and snooping around, like any good journalist does, and, found out that apart from the usual suspects, a slew of unknown fashion designers was on display, on the red carpet. Some were hits and misses, fashion faux-paws and `What is that?’ shockers. Here are some of the high and low lights of the Grammy red carpet.

NEW NAMES IN FASHION
BEYONCE’ brought the drama, magic and fashion-forward elements wearing a black ensemble by NICOLAS JEBRAN. A name you hear about in the months to come. HAILEE STEINFELD wore a simple white gown by ALEXANDER VAULTHIER with dramatic purple over the knee boots. JULIA MICHAELS came down the red carpet in PABLO SEBASTIAN. Soul Singer ANDRA DAY wore Custom VICTORIA HAYNES. A beautifully pregnant CHRISSY TEIGEN wore a dazzling YANINA COUTURE and the Cinderella of the Grammys, rapper CARDI B wore a white `Angel wings’ dress by ASHI STUDIOS & MESSIKA PARIS. But, my all time `Best Dressed’ which was not covered by any mainstream media, goes to old-school singer ASHANTI, who is trying to make a comeback. She wore an elegant, perfectly fitted, gold flared maxi dress by YAS COUTURE by ELLIE MADI…..it was the best I’ve ever seen her look.

USUAL SUSPECTS
The popular designers certainly had their day on the red carpet. LADY GAGA did not disappoint in a dramatic black lace catsuit, worn with a huge, billowing overskirt and train attached by ARMANI PRIVE’. ARMANI PRIVE’ also outfitted singer PINK in a colorful, tiered, feathered ensemble which totally missed the mark. Best New Artist winner ALICIA CARA wore an appropriate RAG & BONE man-tailored suit. KELLY CLARKSON wore CHRISTIAN SIRIANO. CINDY LAUPER wore a pale pink, washed silk trouser suit cut along classic lines by MOSCHINO and JENNY McCarthy looked great in TOM FORD.

MILEY CYRUS wore a black JEAN PAUL GAULTIER jumpsuit. KATIE HOLMES with her new short bob hairstyle wore ZAC POSEN. BEBE REXA, a name you probably never heard, but, will be hearing in 2018 wore LA PERLA (yes the lingerie company) and JANELLE MONAE looked like an overdressed Christmas tree in a black Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit which was overly embellished. ELTON JOHN came down the red carpet in an appropriate, dazzling GUCCI blazer. RITA ORA wore a seductive black gown by RALPH & RUSSO. CAMILLA CABELLO wore a red VIVIENNE WESTWOOD gown. New singer SZA seemed weighed down in her white ATELIER VERSACE, while rap trio MIGOS wore VERSACE and tons of diamonds, in an ode to Michael Jackson, styled by ZOE COSTELLO.
