TAKING CARE OF MEN UNDERWEAR BASED ON THE FABRIC
By MichelleW |

Shopping a brand new underwear leaves one with this fresh feeling; the colors are effervescent, super soft fabric with the elastic fitting perfectly – they usually feel soft, good, and great. However, after using them for some time, maintaining that new look and feel of new underwear can be difficult but they are several ways to keep them fresh. Here are ways to take care of men underwear.

Check the underwear labels

All men underwear online in Australia are made differently and several types of fabrics can be found in the market today. These different fabrics need diverse care and attention for them to last longer. Anyone who wants their underwear to last has to follow the instructions that come with the underwear’s label.

Do you know the underwear material well?

If the tags are not available or no time to follow up and read on how to take care of men shopped underwear online in Australia – here is a quick rundown on how to wash the different types of textiles.

100% cotton

With cotton materials, set aside the light ones from the dark and wash them independently. The underwear can be washed in warm and not hot water and should be air-dried in a shade. But if in a haste to have them dried quickly, it can be tumbled dried on the lowest heat setting and get them out immediately once they are dry.

Stretch cotton

With the stretch cotton material, sort out the light and dark ones – have them washed separately. Have the underwear washed in the machine with luke-warm water and do not use any bleach or fabric softener on the underwear – next air dry the fabric.

Microfiber

Wash underwear with mildly warm water on a permanent press. Synthetic materials tend to get dry quickly and cannot withstand heat well because they can even melt off in the dryer. That is why it is often best to ignore drying synthetic underwear at all.

Sheer or mesh fabrics

These fabrics are more sensitive than the others and they are likely to be destroyed if washed with other rough materials like jeans or towels. Have them washed in the delicate cycle with luke-warm water and air-dry them on a flat surface.

Do not use a hot dryer on fabrics

Most fabrics need to be air-dried or tumble-dried making use of the lowest heat setting. This is because hot dryers will not only make the color of the underwear fade but it can as well create some sort of friction that can cause the fabric, elastic, and waistband to stretch.

Do not dry them in direct sunlight

The rays of UVA and UVB are not only detrimental to one’s skin but they can as well cause some level of damage to an underwear fabric by making their colors fade and weakening them. This is the reason why air-drying them in a shade is the best option for underwear.
